See how Reveal works
The short version: getting Dynamics data out is the easy part. Reveal gives finance a reconciled foundation they can trust, in a fraction of the time a bespoke build takes.
What is Reveal, and how is it different from a bespoke warehouse?
Reveal is a pre-built data-warehouse connector and model for Dynamics 365. Where a bespoke warehouse is designed and built from scratch for your estate, Reveal arrives already knowing the Dynamics data model: it extracts the data, handles the schema realities that catch generalists out, and lands it pre-reconciled, so the reconciliation work that is the hard part of a bespoke build is already done. You get a self-reconciling foundation on day one, and we tailor it to you from there.
The reason it can do that is the reason we built it. Two decades of doing nothing but Dynamics data taught us exactly where the numbers stop agreeing, from the AX and NAV days forward, and Reveal encodes that knowledge once so every customer benefits from it rather than paying to rediscover it.
It is not a black box you are left to run. Reveal is the connector plus the consultancy: we implement it, tailor it to your entities and your chart of accounts, and support it, so you are never holding a licence and a manual.
Should we build a bespoke warehouse or buy a pre-built one?
It depends on how far your requirements sit from a standard Dynamics finance model. Reveal wins when you want a trustworthy, reconciled foundation quickly and at lower risk, and your reporting needs are close to what most Dynamics finance teams need. A bespoke build wins when your model is genuinely unusual and needs shaping from the ground up. We are one of the few suppliers who can honestly weigh the two, because we sell both.
- Reveal is usually the faster, lower-risk route. The reconciliation logic, the extraction path and the schema handling are already built and already tested across many Dynamics estates, so you skip the most expensive and error-prone part of a warehouse project.
- A bespoke build is the right call when the model is unusual. If your consolidation, your dimensions or your sources are far from a standard Dynamics finance shape, a bespoke data warehouse shaped to your estate is the better answer, and we will say so.
- Often the answer is a blend. Start from the Reveal foundation for everything standard, then extend it with bespoke modelling for the parts that are genuinely yours. You get speed where speed is safe and craft where craft is needed.
- We have no incentive to push you either way. We are independent and hold no licence quota. The recommendation is the one the evidence supports, which is the whole reason to get the comparison from someone who offers both.
The full decision, laid out as a framework, is in build versus buy BI for Dynamics 365.
The Reveal family
Reveal is a small family of pre-built products that share one foundation: the data connector at the core, the extraction paths onto a modern platform, a pre-built finance data warehouse, and a supported route off legacy databases. Pick the one that matches where you are.
- Reveal data connector. The core: a proprietary connector that extracts and models Dynamics data, pre-reconciled. The Reveal data connector
- Azure Data Lake extraction. Reveal-powered extraction of Dynamics data into your Azure Data Lake, on a modern supported path. Reveal Azure Data Lake extraction
- Pre-built Finance data warehouse. A pre-reconciled data warehouse for Dynamics 365 Finance, ready to report on. Finance data warehouse options
- Dynamics 365 to SQL migration. A supported route to get your Dynamics data into SQL, for teams that want it in their own database. Dynamics 365 to SQL migration
Who Reveal is for
Reveal fits organisations running Dynamics 365 Finance, or moving to it from AX or NAV, that want a trustworthy reporting foundation without funding a full bespoke warehouse programme. It is especially strong for multi-entity, multi-currency finance teams whose main need is a reconciled group figure they can defend, quickly.
It is also the natural first move when a legacy analytics pipe is being retired and you need to get onto a modern, supported path without rebuilding everything by hand. Reveal gets the data across and reconciled; the platform and reporting layers then sit on top of a foundation you can trust.
Where Reveal sits in the estate. Reveal is the reconciled model layer, delivered as a product rather than a bespoke build. It sits on a Microsoft Fabric or Azure platform, and your Power BI reporting sits on top of it. One foundation, faster.
The people who built it are the people who run it
Reveal is our own intellectual property, built and supported by PrecisionPoint, not licensed in from a third party. When you buy Reveal you are buying the product and the two decades of Dynamics data expertise that made it, from the same team that will implement and support it.
That matters because a pre-built product is only as good as the people behind it. A connector from a vendor who has never had to make an intercompany balance is a black box. Reveal comes from the specialists who have done nothing but Dynamics data since 2002, which is why it reconciles where generic tools do not.
- Our own IP, built and supported in-house.
- Dynamics-native since 2002, across the AX and NAV lineage.
- Independent, so the build-versus-buy advice is honest.
Reveal: common questions
Is Reveal a product we license, or a service?
Both, and that is the point. Reveal is our proprietary product, and it comes with the consultancy to implement, tailor and support it. You are not left holding a licence and a manual. We implement it against your entities and your chart of accounts, and we run and support it, so it behaves like a service with a product at its core.
How is Reveal faster than a bespoke warehouse?
Because the hardest part is already done. In a bespoke build, most of the time and nearly all of the risk sits in the reconciliation: modelling the Dynamics data so the figures agree, and handling the schema realities that catch generalists out. Reveal arrives with that logic already built and tested across many Dynamics estates, so you start from a reconciled foundation and tailor from there, rather than building it from scratch.
Does Reveal support a move from AX or NAV?
Yes. Reveal supports Dynamics 365 Finance and the wider Dynamics family, and it supports organisations moving from the older AX and NAV platforms. Because we have worked across that whole lineage since 2002, the migration path is one we know rather than one we are discovering on your project.
When should we build bespoke instead of buying Reveal?
When your requirements sit a long way from a standard Dynamics finance model, a bespoke data warehouse shaped to your estate is the better answer, and we will tell you so, because we build those too. Often the right answer is a blend: the Reveal foundation for everything standard, extended with bespoke modelling for the parts that are genuinely yours. We have no incentive to push you either way.
Find out whether Reveal is the right route
Tell us what you run and what your reporting needs to do, and we will tell you honestly whether Reveal gets you there faster and cheaper, or whether a bespoke build fits you better. We sell both, so the comparison is a straight one.
Either way you will get a clear read on the fastest, lowest-risk route to a reporting foundation you can trust, with the cost shown before you commit.
Tell us where your Dynamics data stands today and we will tell you whether Reveal fits.
